Honor Introduction

Welcome to my website. My name is David Scharton but people call me Mr. D and I am a Master Guide with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. I have prepared this website to help youth in Pathfinders to find God and the beauty of this world around them through honors that have been created to help do that. The honors that have been prepared in this section will bring fund and learning at the same time. It will hopefully stimulate them and show how God or Jesus can be found in everything thing they may do or experience.

Pathfinders are like missionaries spreading the love of Jesus and how he gave his life for them and everyone they meet. I believe that youth try to fit into the world around them and they need our help to guide them. Adults sometime forget what it was like in the 80’s, 70’s, 60’, and maybe we should stop there. I believe we need to bring exciting and fresh ideas to our youth, help them to find Jesus, learning how they can witness to the world and friends in this fast pace video technology, action movies, and the romance movies that are supposed to be ok for youth, or are they? What do we do to help bring everyone to the spot of awe and want in learning about the beauty around us? I guess the question is how can we be more like Jesus.

Several years ago my wife and I were involved with a church in Southern California that we were a member for over 25 years. Through the power of Jesus a family of children were united through a craft like class that reached out to the youth. I would like to see this section on honors do the same thing. I fill that pathfinders are agents and disciples to help share the love of Jesus with people that they come in contact with.

The craft class as it got to be known as, drew children from all ranges of age. One family who were missionaries, returned to my wife’s class over a 10 year period when visiting in family in the states. The at this church we attended never missed a sabbath over the 20 years except for two. Crafts like honors are important in keeping our youth focused on Jesus and help build their faith. I believe our youth like ourselves rely on something being what it says it is to be.

Lets get back to honors and what this webpage is going to offer to Mr. D students or young people.

Honors appear to be a big part of adventure and pathfinders in the Seventh Day Adventist Church which helps bring youth to the church through activities, camporees, and just socializing with each other.

Today’s youth are being drawn into a video world and everything is fast pace and we wonder how someone can do all the things they may want to do over their lifetime. Youth have found a way to multitask through various video tasks at the same time and we do? We make learning about God more interesting!!! The purpose of these crafts or honors that are being presented by Mr. D are to help the youth remember the jewels of what Jesus has done for us, for them.

To remember that he loves us and wants all of us to be with him in heaven.

I feel as a substitute teacher, a parent, grandparent, and Master Guide - that we have an important part in helping our love ones or friends to find their way to the truth but hopefully with excitement and want to be involved and a part of their personal community.

The personal community is our love ones, friends, and pathfinder world. This personal community is growing through our interaction with the world about Jesus and his love.

You will notice that the page is made up of three sections. The top sections is the link to this youtube video, the left bottom section is where I will list my honors as I finish them, and the right bottom is links that I have listed for those honors.

I also want to let you know that if you find an honor that interest you send me an email through contacts and tell me what interests you. Also I want to say that if anyone wants to be on my notification email when I finish honors please send me you info. Send me ideas that will help you or others to earn the honors I put on line.

I also like to make one more comment about honors. I found that Ellen G. White commented about our youth and referred them to as a army.

"We have an army of youth today who can do much if they are properly directed and encouraged. We want our children to believe in the truth. We want them to be blessed of God. We want them to act a part in well-organized plans for helping other youth."
