Computers - #8 - Report on Computer History

Stage Eight of Computers - Write a 250-word essay or give a three-minute oral report about the history of computers. Include prominent events and personalities that are significant to the development of the computer, both hardware and software. This report should focus on the development of the personal computer, not the internet or other accessory functions related to computing.

Remember that you should have a notepad or printout of your worksheet. The worksheet is located at the lower part of your Computer Screen. If you do not have a printout then take notes so you can put the information needed in the boxes.

History of Computer is probably the most fun in this honor. Please look up what the internet says about computer technology from 1960 to 2022. I know what you find will be interesting and you can amaze your friend with your knowledge.

I did include in the Link PDF file on the Computer Honor page a link to some computer history, but I found the Internet filled with lots of other links if you look.

This research should be performed by the person earning the honor, but we will provide a few names for plugging into a search engine:

Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs are some of the most important people in the early history of personal computer hardware, as together, they formed Apple Computer which produced the first commercially viable home computer. Bill Gates and the company he founded (Microsoft) have had a large influence on computer software over the last fifty years. Other people to know about include Brian KernighanDennis RitchieKen ThompsonRichard StallmanVint Cerf, and Linus Torvalds.

What were some amazing things that you can share with us about computer history?

Please listen to the Video for the needed information for step 8 on worksheet.
